if you're still in atlanta i would like to meet you guys. i own a coffee farm in the Dominican Republic. i just got back from a pruning trip and got to see some really cool bio-digesters that produce methane from coffee waste water. the methane then becomes cooking fuel and runs the de-pulpers and washers.

hey girls. great to meet you (randomly) at muddydog in Raleigh NC. Don't think you'll be heading through my town on the coffee hajj, (Starbucks at Barnes and Noble is about the top of the crop in FayetteNam) but I'll keep track of your adventures. Now also a CouchSurfer, so thanks for the hot tip on that front too.
Three great cafes in Sydney Australia worth checking out if you are ever there:
Kafenio - Barista is Jason (5 beans in the sydney good coffee guide 2006)
Grind - Richard Callabro (Also 5 beans)
Both of these are in Cronulla, on the southern beaches.
La Buvette - Barista is Christian, this is in Potts Point near the city centre

anyway, happy and safe travels

Hi ladies,

Jay here from the dripolator in asheville, nc.

So nice to meet you and connect with your journey. I wanted to fill in a couple of gaps that are an important part of how this place runs. First of all , my wife Kim Hunt, is instrumental to keeping this place going and keeping me grounded. We cover different areas that i believe bring our mission forward.
Next is the art on the walls. We have a wonderful barista who takes on the curator position and brings in a new show each month. It is a venue that stands to propel students or otherwise lessor shown artists who have a lot of talent, but need a place to show publicly to get their career moving forward. I think it really ties together the local and global community mission that we set out to promote.

Anyway, thanks again for coming by. Stay in touch, and we will check in on how the journey is going.

hasta la Victoria!

Ladies,
You are both very lucky to have your passion found at such a young age. I wish I knew what you knew at your age. I discovered it late in life. I learnt thourgh travel and community through service projects also.
Through Coffee I really learned about community and what a community can do if they put there mind too. Coffee is powerful at home in the US as a drink that can bring people together at home and it cross countries bounders connecting us to the farmer far far away. It all depends on the people buying the coffee, roasting the coffee and then the barista telling the customers! I have to get of the computer because Laura needs it. I was trying to be inspiratoin. Doug misses Mel already, and Sara too!
